Our Story

Lunessa designer jewelry opened in 2005, shortly after the birth of Elise’s son Jaya. Originally intent on finding a workshop space, Elise instead found a tiny storefront in Soho which proved to be an irresistible opportunity. With a leap of faith and a new baby in her arms, Elise opened the magical doors to Lunessa Designer Jewelry.

 

Elise Perelman’s personal inspiration comes from her son Jaya, the satisfaction of the creative process, the graceful order of the Natural World, and from life’s trials of growing as a human being. She finds artistic inspiration through Nature: trees, ethereal beings, flowers, stars, the Art Nouveau and Romantic art periods, feminine beauty and an innate love for color and beauty. She muses, ‘I am awed by the creative process…the whisper of an idea as it births itself…and finally the transformative nature of jewelry, which brings joy and a sense of beauty and identity to the wearer.’

Lunessa (lu·ness·a) was aptly created and named by Elise to represent the Crescent Moon Goddess and all her treasures – feminine, celestial and spiritual.

 

The Lunessa emblem -the bejeweled butterfly - represents transformation and freedom. The butterfly teaches us that with patience and a commitment to the heart’s voice, a glorious fulfillment of dreams is the final fruition. The winged butterfly is a creature of flight and limitless possibilities.  Just as she flutters her wings, almost dancing along, she teaches that true joy is also within the dance of life.
